.When you install this theme, it's content will be copied to ~/.kde/share/apps/ksplash/Theme/FingerPrintAutumn/
I called the folder FingerPrintAutumn because of the background included as an example. You then need to open background_transparent.png in your favourite graphic editor (I recommend GIMP) and put a layer with your background on it behind the fingerprints.Don't forget to hit "save in" to override background.png with your newly created image. Don't worry if the preview image isn't updated, it's an extra image called Preview.png.
This Package already contains a modified background.png showing a nice autumn/alien image. Take a look at the screenshot to see what I mean.
Now have fun with it

I very much like the splash screen. It looks awesome when it works. I have a problem though. I can't, for the life of me figure out how to add in my own background! I try following your directions, but it never works. I open the transparent in gimp open my wallpaper i want to use and copy and paste the trans over it, then rename it to the name of the trans, and save it to the main folder. I don't understand what you mean by "be sure to choose save in" there is no save in, there is only save as or save. Am i supposed to ovewrite the Background.png file or the Background_transparent.png file? I have tried it both ways and it doesn't work. The closest that i have gotten, nothing comes up on the screen when the splash screen would be there, then when the desktop loads it says no background image please try placing a background.jpg into the theme file, then when i hit okay, the splash screen image the way i want it pops up on the screen, but it's only kind of half there, then i click on the screen and it goes away and back to the desktop. I have also tried to remove it and start over, but it doesn't give me that option, i have to go into a console and manually delete all of the content files but i can't remove the main directory folder. I am lost, any help would be great

first of all, THANK YOU because i can't see the green background anymore :) apart from that i don't know if you use 0.4.1 or 0.4.2 of moodin engine but in 0.4.2 (or it depends on my current development version :)) the theme defaults fail. well, the following two lines in Theme.rc fix that (only 0.4.2): Background = Background.png Label2 = ML:USER:loginname
