Description: I changed Liquid's default color scheme to a lighter one. I also changed horizontal lines to be lighter in order to integrate more with the plain white backgrounds. Then, I recompiled it and zipped the binaries in one tgz archive.
I did that because I had lots of problems compiling it on Mdk8.1.
FIRST: extract the liquid-julo-bin.tgz file from the downloaded archive !
If you want to install it on Mandrake 8.1, just extract this archive to /usr by typing as ROOT:
tar xvfz liquid-julo-bin.tgz -C /usr
For Suse and probably other distros, just type:
tar xvfz liquid-julo-bin.tgz -C /opt/kde2
IMPORTANT: This archive provides 3 files: -liquid-julo-bin.tgz contains the binary files. -liquid.cpp.diff is a patch for mosfet-liquid's widget engine -Liquid.kcsrc.diff is a patch for mosfet-liquid's colorscheme
To patch mosfet-liquid0.7, just type: patch mosfet-liquid0.7/colorscheme/Liquid.kcsrc Liquid.kcsrc.diff patch mosfet-liquid0.7/widget-engine/liquid.cpp liquid.cpp.diff
Hi
Of course I can give you the source code but I don't have a permanent connection to the net and don't know of an easy solution for hosting it. Maybe I could upload it here ? Else, if you know a better way, just tell me.
Hi
I've hardly tested it so please tell me if you had troubles installing it on Mdk-8.1.
If you know how to make a RPM, just do it !
Finally, if anyone knows where other distros put thoise files (Mdk puts them in /usr but I think it's not the right place...), thanks to tell me.
PS: thanks to Mosfet for this great engine !
I installed it using your instructions, and it works.
One thing--it turned the panel gray. The only way the color changes took place was if I logged out and logged back in again.
Other than that, it works great.
Thank you!
Hello Julo,
I'm running Mandrake 8.2 and installed according to your instructions for 8.1.
What I got as follows:

Can you tell me what to do next? Sorry for such a long post but I'm new to Linux and really like this theme:) Many thanks.

I love it even though it would be better if the buttons were light blue and not purple. Please update it for the KDE3 liquid theme.
very cool
Did you modified the source code? IANAL, but I think you need to distribute it or at least provide a link to the modified source. Regards, Norberto

I don't know. Perhaps some one could tell us if is ok to just release a patch against Liquid in the same tarball with the binaries?

SusieQ (what I affectionately call me distro) puts 'em in the prefix "/opt/kde2". Happy 'nuxing, Ty
