Description:
Only(?) for OpenSuSE 10.2 !

This K-menu kickoff button is made as replacement for the chameleon that's in your kicker if you use the new SuSE-kickoff (like KBFX) instead of the classic KDE-kickoff.

It works without KBFX !

This button is made for a kicker-size of 48 pixels or for the setting "default".
The button will be scaled, if your kicker is smaller, but then it won't look very nice.

Maybe I've written some mistakes in the ReadMe ... forgive me, I'm german ;-)

HAVE FUN !!

i had to reconfigure the kmenu_active.png to the right icon i couldnt leave it because it used the original kubuntu icon but now is all cool. thanks for the sweet icons.

I didn't know that it works for kubuntu, too ... resp. that kubuntu has a k-menu-kickoff like the new SuSE-kickoff, too. (I mean the menu that looks a little bit like kbfx) Maybe you should explain how you did that, so that other users can change/use it, too on their kubuntu systems?

shadowfx78

i simply copied and renamed kmenu_active.mng to kmenu_active.png

connedy

Oh thank's, I didn't know that it's such easy to use them in kbfx, too! But if you rename them to png, they will not be animated any more, right? As I know, png only uses the first frame?

Hedron

In the readme file you say: FIRST, MAKE A BACKUP OF THE ORIGINALS !!!!!! /opt/kde3/share/apps/kicker/pics/kmenu_basic.mng /opt/kde3/share/apps/kicker/pics/kmenu_vertical.mng /opt/kde3/share/apps/kicker/pics/kmenu_flipped.mng As root, copy the 3 new pictures kmenu_basic.mng kmenu_vertical.mng kmenu_flipped.mng into the folder /opt/kde3/share/apps/kicker/pics It can be done this way, but there is another way. You can make the button available to one user only by creating a pics directory in your ~/.kde/share/apps/kicker directory and copy the files there, then remove the K Menu and add it back to the panel - it works just ok for one user only. So for example if your home directory is /home/user then you have to create directory /home/user/.kde/share/apps/kicker/pics and copy the files there

Hello @Hedron, yes, that's right - it's possible, but note that other users on your system won't see the kickoff icon if they don't have the mng-files in "~/..." , too! I've already said that in http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=53434 @747419 48px is the default kicker setting in my (german) suse distro. If I change my kicker to a smaller size, the icon is too big !?

No, I mean: you can use *this* Kickoff-Icon for kickers smaller than the default-size, too. My Kicker is only 24 pixels wide and still your icon fits. Resizing kicker *after* installing the icon does not work though, its size would stay the same.

connedy

Yes, you're completely right. I've changed my description and the ReadMe yesterday and I've updated the files. Thank you for your help! Deutsch...

connedy

Oops ... ok sorry, but I didn't read exactly what you wrote. That's a good idea and you're right, that it works for only one user if you save the pics under "~/.kde/share/....." Thanks a lot ! That's better than the root-method !

vimal

Thanks a lot.Good theme.

Looks good, works good - what more could we ask for? Nice thingy! But: it actually *does* work with bars smaller than 48 pixels, like my superslim 24-pixel-bar... your description sounds as if one needs a default-size kicker to use it, which does not seem to be the case. Thank you and keep it up!

lordmaxxon

Kickoff packages also exist for Kubuntu and other distros.

connedy

Oh thanx, I didn't know that. I've only seen a portage of the new kickoff for CRUX (?) ...
