why?
The Kde identity is our K if you remove that users begin to say hmm i use fedora desktop
I'm not against branding like theming kdm, splash and window decorations but the K in my task bar is must.
And this was the reason i moved from RH/Fedora/Ubuntu...
The foot of Gnome is the only thing i liked about it and when i saw a red hat there...
Please do other kind of branding, or even add this icon to the splash screen ;)
You can use SVG icon, open it with Inkscape or similar program, and simply remove the K logo. It is a single item in the image.
Then you should get an SVG logo of Slackware and insert it into the image, if you want to have SVG version of your icon as well.

so if I do not use kickoff I have no kde?!?
I bet those who don't use kickoff know what they are doing (and that they are using kde), since kickoff is there by default.
