I have trouble with my parents when they want to use computer. My mother on her job is using Winblowz and when she gets at home she only has linux :D
Now she will no more be confused since she is just clicking icons and not reading text :D
i like this one i dont under stand why linux user say nasty stuff about thing made like windows its just a look if and if its not your cup of tea dont trash hard work.
I have nothing against Windows, I just always felt the default look was ugly prior to Windows XP.
So I can't imagine wanting an ugly theme in KDE.....
BTW. are we supposed to like all themes here? I missed that requirement...
It's okay! give the guy a break! OPEN SOURCE OPEN MIND! Come on there are plenty of applications for this theme as afore mentioned. Hey personally I don't think It looks bad.
GNU/Linux and BSD are supposed to be alternatives to closed source proprietary software. It gives us the chance to utilize a multitude of various GUI's, each offering a high degree of flexibility unattainable in most other operating systems.
Why would anybody in their right mind want to mimic an ugly looking GUI like MS Windows? Trust me, making your icons ugly does not make KDE more user friendly. A folder icon is still discernable by my grandmother whether it has a plain manilla appearance, or a cool looking blue crystal-esque folder.
If you want cool looking icons, look at:
Crystal Icons,
Aqua Fusion Icons,
Slick Icons,
iKons,
Marbles,
Neon Icons,
etc.
They all possess originality, and look a whole lot better than anything MS has to offer. Please get rid of this inappropriate eye-sore.
This might be a good idea for the recently converted. I guess I could also install Linux on my dad's computer together with these icons and he would never know the difference.
But the theme goes beyond the look and feel of Windows. Using the Internet Explorer icon is stealing, isn't it?
I think this is hilarious! I not only DL'ed it and instaled it, I did everything I could to make my desktop look as win2K-ish as possible! I find it a sceam! Not only when people sit at my desk and start seaching for their usual apps, they find find it works better and everything looks familiar!
Get off the horse, you'll get a nose bleed up that high!
I run Solaris 8, with KDE and a Win2K theme. Try that for x-platform! :P

I appreciate your feeling that it is illegal. I know it is somewhat but not literally. I will remove the logos and ms trademarks!
anyway thanks for your comments!
I personally don't care, but it bothers me when people keep saying that this plagarism is legaly (and moraly) OK. It isn't, so just admit it and keep doing what ever were doing (if it matters so much to have these icons to many people).
The icons look great, and I would actually use them if someone would make a such a theme without the Microsoft Windows and IE lgos in them. And don't replace the Konsole icon with that horrib C:\ icon. Change that it would be perfect!!! In one post someone said replace the Windows logo with the KDE K-Gear Logo (or Konqui). Do that, and 1) get less flames 2) you would have on of the best icons themes out there. I just love the colors of those icons....Anyhoo, excellent effort in making/porting those icons and going to the trouble of making a theme for us! :o)
I think having Windows Icons is a great thing for proplr just learning Linux / KDE. I've been a Windows User for a long time and consider myself pretty knowledgable in Windows. I'm learning Linux slowly but surely, but it's going to take time. I would think that anyone who wants to learn Linux and is comfortable with Windows should try one of the Windows Themes. It adds that level of comfort making Linux much less intimidating. Good work and I'll be downloading a Windows Theme for KDE later today.

Windows Default icons have never been attractive. They didn't get "decent" until Windows XP. So I have to ask, why would anyone want this theme?

Can you change text size icons? They look too much colorless. Otherwize great icons.

Hi, nice Theme! What Font did you take for the menus? That looks very much better than my standardfont. Please give me some feed-back about! Thanks!
A lot of the icons in this theme look similar to what's in Win2k, but in a side-by-side comparison, most of them actually look better! Good work.
