Description:
The bulidset GPL script is the backbone of the graphitekde icon packages. It is a GPL'd script that reduced time needed for iconset creation, testing, distribution, and downloading. For example, the original graphite iconset was approximately 20 MB. By using this script, the size of download is reduced to approximately 6 MB and the time to create and port new iconsets is drastically reduced.

README
Run the buildset script
Select your custom kmenu icon (xeyes is good)
Wait for the icons to convert
Wait for the tar.gz or tar.bz2 to build
Install using kcontrol

Why the script?
6.5 MB versus about 20 MB.
And the script can be used by icon artists! Just
create your 128x128 icons then use the script to
create the additional icons!

Added Info
-------------------------------
The SuSE icon added to the package (apps/suse.png) is under BSD license by tkdesign-studio.com provided on kde-look.org.
Additional icons provided by other icon packages with written / or distribution consent.
The GPL'd buildset script is included in the package, as well as the separate download.
Last changelog:

Changelog:
3.1
Added gentoo kmenu / buildset support.
Improved the toolbar icons.
3.00 Slight fixes between 2 and 3, mainly little icons like
kmail inbox/outbox/sent_mail.
buildset script now supports different sizes in a variable (SIZES).
Added some SuSE type value-add stuff. Like icons for SuSEwatcher and
SuSEplugger. I'm not a SuSE user, so I don't even know what they're
for.

2.x Internal Templates for all sets
Fixed the script to support BSD too I hope.
Added more icons and synced sets up together.

1.01 Fixes
The script implicitly support whatever distribution you're using.
Before I inserted absolute paths for the utilities, but now I am
using a better method.
I also commented the buildset script as well as created an added
index.moreSizes.desktop file for kcontrol. You can look at the
buildset script and see spots where you can add more sizes, I used
56x56 as an example. Since SVGs are not going to happen, I can
at least provide this. Just keep in mind whatever sizes you
specify, the index.desktop file will have to reflect that.

1.00 Initial release
Rade8 packages are now using build scripts to limit the amount of
obnoxious bandwidth these packages use. Added icons including
(not limited to) kmixdocked, kmix_muted, new konqueror icons,
changed save icon, apps/icons...

it would be nice if you culd give more options for the kmenus/go/start or what ever its called menu, while xeyes is nice, its kinda downheartening to see nearly all of the ones u give as options are distro specific, it would be ncie if we could have more general ones like the picture of tux, or possably add some more distrobutions to the choice like slackware, debian, not so much the derivitives of these distros like mepis and DSL. Anyway great icon set could do with one for opera though and like i said just before offering a wider selection to choose from for the go/start menu thingy. Grat idea about the buildset script as well, espeicaly useful for dial up users like me, saves a whole heap of time (2 thumbs up) Great job Michael

maitre

I can't drop a 20 MB package somewhere but if you want, I can put in on a private connection - send me an email and I'll hook you up.

Hi!I like your screenshots very much and was wondering, what else do you use to get such a nice desktop.Especially I'd like to know where to get that metal-brush window-background and so on.Thank you!

maitre

Under themes/styles look for baghira - currently it is version .5a. -maitre

The Sparkling icons are great (I love them!) but they are not completed and they don't seems to be maintained anymore. Will it be possible to merge the "actions" icons from Sparkling with your icons? They perfectly fit together.

maitre

quite possibly - i'll check into it

Would like to thank you for such a great contribution. Really appreciate the script. These icons are my favorite and the script is so awesome. Glad you represented BSD also.. Even though I use FreeBSD rather than OpenBSD.. Thanks again for the great work!! Dantavious

In the screenshot, what is the font you use for the desktop? How can I get it?

maitre

hey - its called "space cowboy" as in "some people call me a..." :) its available at www.fontz.de under s. -maitre

saltwater

And the general font that is for example used in the "New folder" dialog?

maitre

don't remember - i think an MS one.

I keep getting can't find convert is there an application I need to install?

maitre

I'm really surprised you don't have it. Convert is part of the ImageMagick package available at http://www.imagemagick.org - I would double check to make sure you don't have it before getting it from their site. If you have a RPM-based system, you can use the command line to perform: rpm -qa | grep ImageMagick to see if ImageMagick is installed. If you don't have an RPM-based system, you can always search for the convert binary using 'find'. From the console: find / | grep convert | grep bin which will look for any file named convert with 'bin' in its path. Hope this helps! -maitre

This is the best way to generate Snowe-Rade8 icons. Plus you get to choose the kmenu icon too! I love it!

maitre

Thanks so much - I'm glad people enjoy the work I've done. -maitre

Whats the name of the Brushed Metal alike theme you are using?

maitre

The KDE theme you see is baghira, the gtk 2 theme I use is a modification of Industrial Beer Spillage. -maitre

fffortune

Good looking stuff.

MMax

is that KDE?

maitre

Sure is - the most useable environment ever. :)

The third screenshot shows some recent icon additions for players like juk and amarok. -maitre
