Description: A very nice Ubuntu main menu (start button) icon for the Gnome panel. It is derived from "Ubuntu 9.10 and derived Sticker" http://bit.ly/1MnLUg
The icon has a transparent background. A particularly nice feature of it is that it allows just the right amount of room for the ^ character in a bottom-placed Gnome Main Menu panel. See the attached screen shot for an example of it in use.
HOW TO REPLACE YOUR MAIN MENU (START BUTTON) IN UBUNTU:
1. Download the attached file and save it to /home/yourusername/.icons/share (you may need to create the folder name share) or any other suitable place such as /home/yourusername/Pictures/Icons (you may need to create the .icons folder, and all files with a period placed first in the file name are hidden and viewable by pressing CTL+H).
2. Press button Alt+F2 and write gconf-editor
3. Click apps–>panel–> object
4. Choose from object0~object4 (or more) content with main menu word
5. Choose/check use custom menu in top, click custom menu twice, content with value /home/yourusernam/ubuntustart2.png
DONE, now you have very nice new icon.
Directions work in Jaunty and Karmic, probably in earlier versions but you may need to install gconf-editor
I don't get step 4. Under panel-->objects I see browser_launcher_screen0, menu_bar_screen0, object_2, object_3,object_4,object_5,object_6,object_7,object_8.
Whitch one to edit?
