Could You post me a link to (or a whole skin) XMMS Sony-like skin You use? Thanks in advance, Peter
Here it is and sorry for the delayed reply.... http://www.1001winampskins.com/skin_details.html?skin_id=2728
But how do u get gkrellm2 to be transparent ? Anyways nice setup !!
Sorry for the late reply. The way I got gkrellm to be transparent was to use the "invisible theme" that you can get in an RPM. I have found that it doesn't wory very well though with KDE. Sometimes the transparent border becomes white. So for my second screenshot I made the border the same color as the background.
how do you set a borderless window on kde?
The way I did it was with Eterm, so I had to install the RPM for it first since it doesn't come with KDE. The pros are that Eterm handles transparent windows "much" faster than Konsole. So you can move the window and watch your background being smoothly updated on to create a more realistic effect of transparency. You can run Eterm with some commandline parameters that do mostly everything. The man pages are quite detailed so you won't have any problems figuring it out pretty fast.
For programs that don't have built in borderless options, there's also kstart. 'kstart --type Override (app)' will start the app without borders. Try 'kstart --help' for more goodies, such as skipping the taskbar, skipping the pager, etc.
nice
I used Eterm. With Eterm you also have the flexibility to do a lot of things.
This is something I've been looking to try for a long time. How do you get a terminal on the desktop like that? Matt
All you need is a terminal capable of displaying a transparent background (i.e., most of the terminals out there, such as rxvt, aterm, konsole, etc.) In this particular instance, I would suggest using somehting like rxvt or aterm, as that way you can use konsole as you normally would. Make the window borderless, optionally turn off any scrollbars, and then place it wherever you like.
