I'm running slackware 10 w/ kde 3.3.4 beta1 and I can run (xcompmgr -c -f) for +/- 15 minutes until xcompmgr will crash. Granted your running CVS but it would be interesting to know how stable they've managed to get it. How long can you run KDE w/ composite before it crashes or does it? Thanks, Chris
I don't think it's simply a matter of how long you run it before it crashes; I believe it depends on how intensively the window manager works. I found that the compositor always crashes when attempting to manage intensive or strange tasks, such as lots of windows (quanta at startup) or kopete popups
yeah thats true, and actually I've been running xcompmgr without the fade effects for about 2 hours now, I've been using firefox, kate, konqueror, thunderbird and juk so thats not bad..... I was checking the CVS last night and I saw they have something called kcompmgr, I'm thinking about compiling a CVS version to take a look Chris
I tried to use it, but it's still too unstable; for example, starting Quanta crashes x.org because of the too many windows opened at once.
Does anyone know if this is going to be in 3.4?
