Description: Seeing how Dragon Player will be part of KDE 4.1 now I guess this project is obsolete now. Unless there is some really good reason I won't be updating this anymore.
-----------------------------------
KMediaPlayer is a simple media player aimed mainly at the KDE4 desktop. It makes use of Phonon for media playback. The innovation sprang out of a discussion on http://dot.kde.org [1].
The main aim of KMediaPlayer is to be small, easy to use, and to the point. It does not aim to be another Kaffeine or Amarok. The main use case is for quick playback from file managers, i.e. mostly Konqueror or Dolphin.
Looks great!
Only one thing: Why don't you remove the Menubar? I've always felt that menubars are really uneccessary in most apps.
Especially if number of actions is small or the toolbar adjustable...
Hmm yes. I'll look into it. Thing is, i use max os x style toolbars (only one at the top of the screen), so in that case it looks a bit weird because there will be just empty space there.
I guess the correct thing is to wait to see if KDE4 will even support that setting, and in that case detect whether it is enabled and show or hide the menubar accordingly. Currently the menubar is correctly embedded in KDE3 sessions.
it would be great to be able to bookmark a video at a given position in time. Say you love to watch a particular moment in a movie that you find very funny and like to watch it every once in a while but you need to scroll to that particular position in order to watch it. And give the ability to give a title to that bookmark like "moment of the movie when x and y happens and do that funny thing". Ok hope you get it in there :)
thanx in advance

Thanks for this, I love to see KMediaPlayer as a KPart, like kmplayer, a stable-and-simple media player through kparts...
KDE needs a player like this one. Maybe a bit more configurable than Codeine however
Thanks for the feedback. :-) Yes, there are a few features I plan to add:DVD & VCD support (using solid for disk discovery, so you get prompted only when there actually is a disk present)
external subtitle once available via phonon (from what i gather this will be in 4.1)
remember which file was playing and at what position (like codeine)
What other things are you looking for specifically?
