Description:
Kdenlive is a non-linear video editor for KDE. It provides all project management and editing tools while relying on a separate rendering program (currently PIAVE) to perform the editing operations. Support is planned for transitions, effects, multiple file formats, and full project and asset management support. The current beta release is capable of editing raw DV or AVI DV files, with tools such as move, razor, and resize, selecting parts of clips using in/outpoints, and exporting the result to another raw DV file. You may playback/preview the contents of the timeline at any point during the edit. Full project save/load is supported.
Last changelog:

Between 0.2.3 and 0.2.4 :

* Several bug fixes
* You can now import Kino project files
* you can now export VEML files (the format used to communicate between kdenlive and piave.)
* Several new editing commands and shortcuts, including preliminary support of snap markers.

Is this the "official" version?

Great app! Very Great :) Alternative to Adobe Premiere :D Keep working. But I should mention that name for the app is unclear. It should sound like kmovestudio, kmoviemaker, kmovedit or so

well, i got it all working now but... there were compiling errors on the piave backend in which i had to add #include < math . h > into two files on the account of missing dec' of ceil function. and an extra ; was left on 6-8 file on the kdenlive main project. anyways... now all looks great :-) thanks !

Can I add/create/edit subtitles to a clip that i am working on? (I used to do work for a fansubbing group back in the day and this could be fun) Thanx --ZennouRyuu

Does it allow sound editing? I mean mixing in some music under the scenes. App looks cool, but for me it would only be usable if it would allow me some sound stuff.

Not yet, it's on the "todo" list. There are a number of features that, when complete will cause kdenlive to move up by another version number. (e.g. 0.1 to 0.2 as opposed to 0.1.0 to 0.1.1) Separate sound editing is one such feature. The next such feature to be finished is likely to be support for effects and transitions, the next feature after that is likely to be separate video/audio.

Cool! I'm really looking forward to it. There is still no really good home-use video software on the linux market.
