Please add support for subtitles. .srt, .sub, etc. If it possible, different subtitle fonts and position, fps change, shadow, etc.
For a user who does not speak English, a video player without support for subtitles, is not a player.

Hi there, I'm hoping you can help me out with something. I am using Arch Linux and recently Dragonplayer was updated, and ever since then, it displays the chapter information on the bottom of EVERY video. For example, it may have the text "Chapter 1" on the bottom of the video, and it stays there, and never goes away! Other Linux video players do not do this.
I've googled this but have yet to find an answer. I even checked Dragonplayer's help menu. Is there a keyboard shortcut or something to get rid of this? I could use other video players but like Dragon the best.

Is it possible to write the time from the start to the position I'l show and then the time to the end. Like Amarok will use it?
with the bar I'can see that I'l show 60% of the movie, but I can't say 30min.

Is there a way to force Dragon Player to use overlay instead of textured video? I get terrible tearing in all video applications in textured mode. My laptop has an Intel 945GM card and it's apparently impossible to make vsync work properly...

It would be better, if video won't resize when we touch the sliders (Track or volume). It's annoying.
and one bug (may be already resolved in new version)- player crashes if you keep pressing full screen key "F" for couple of seconds.
under codeine, if you click somewhere on the slider track the slider moves there.
under dragon, it skips a bit forward or backward.
is there some way to configure the slider track to work as it did in codeine? it is one of the main features I use in a media player.

obviously a player must be able to play its media correctly.
other than that I have only 2 features that drive me to a player:
1 - the slider behavior I mentioned (jump to click location, not jump ahead/back)
2 - open new videos in new windows (allowing multiple videos playing at the same time)
so cast my vote for that behavior!

...and if i were to use Dragon, i'd prefer the way that the slider functions currently, as in most instances,(casual video watching), i find i'll want to rewind/fast forward "a bit"; rather than to a specific second. oftentimes i'll miss something in the video, and clicking a slider to scrub to the appropriate moment can be quite cumbersome. am i wrong, or is the function still there with click and drag?
True, most players in Linux perform that way. It not necessarily so on other platforms.
the arrow keys on the keyboard should jump you forward and back. it is actually much easier to use them for that purpose. (no mouse aiming)
and since there is a simple and effective way to skip, I think the slider should be used for click to location. Dragging the slider is much more of a pain, and there is no other way to aim for a specific point in the timeline, it just makes more sense to me for click to location.
I imagine that this is counter to the design of dragon (keeping it very simple) but perhaps an option for the slider?

Just use fullscreen mode if you want to fully watch the movie, otherwise honestly the toolbar and such isn't taking up too many pixels.
Well, I disagree. Sometimes I'm streaming a football match or a tv show while browsing or working. Using minimal mode in combination with keeping the window above all others really rocks in those situations, keeping as much of my other program visible as possible.
I understand your concerns about there being no UI in minimal mode, but what about showing the toolbar at mouseover, in the same way as happens now in fullscreen mode? That way it won't confuse anybody, right? :)
Then use Kaffeine? Personally when I want a minimal player I just launch mplayer from konsole. Use the right tool for the job.
Any additional feature that is added to Dragon Player has to either require no additional default buttons or options (like I'm thinking of showing some metadata when playing an audio file) or is one that is required to have access to a movie (external subtitle file support).

I don't know if this is implemented, but, the only control i miss, is the volume one. Note i haven't tested the last release yet.

This might be implemented in Dragon Player released with KDE 4.1. I was kind of waiting to see what people liked, I wasn't sure.

If I'm not wrong you can jump to a specific location using the middle mouse button.

Any chance of implementing a minimal mode (hide status/toolbars, etc.) in Dragon Player? That would really make it complete!

you can have an option to toggle fullcompact view in the context menu, like in kaffeine. Nobody will be confused
