New version can be found here: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/KCheckGMail?content=57992
KCheckGmail crashes with signal 11 (SIGSEGV) when it tries to log in. I tried with and without "@gmail.com" Always when I see settings, password is changed to three letters.
kcheckgmail is broken for a few days now; maybe gmail changed sth in their protocol? Error message is "Unknown Error retrieving cookies". Running Debian unstable, kcheckgmail 0.5.5.
same problem was at my kubuntu edgy after a few other tries i deleted the $HOME/.kde/share/config/kcheckgmail* files and now working
did not fix it for me; I use checkgmail now. It is also a bit more convenient, more features (sorry to say that out loud here on the kcheckgmail page)
Hi, the new version works just fine and has some new features, check it here: http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php/KCheckGMail?content=57992 I'm maintaining a debian package for testing here: http://deb.atomo64.puffinhost.com/ I hope the Debian maintainer will upload the new package soon.
same problem here, on gentoo and that delete fix didnt work for me :(
I would love if kcheckmail displays part of the email text, the same way google talk does :) Anyway, kcheckgmail is a awesone and very usefull tool, thank you very much.
Hey, i've fixed that, there was problem in kcheckgmailtray.cpp, the developer left buggy checking for password length. The application works, seems good ) If you want to get fixed version mail me on me@progtech.ru :)
I maintain two gmail accounts (one for lists, public things, etc, and the other for professional reasons) and it would truly be great if this application supported multiple accounts. Right now, the only thing I've found that does this is the GMail Manager firefox extension -- which works great, but I'm currently attempting to rid myself of my firefox dependence. Thanks, and great job on this app!
No matter how many time I try I can't get it to remember more than 3 characters out of the password. Each time I bring up the config dialog there are only 3 stars. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have a solution? Thanks in advance.
the same problem. using kde 3.5.0
no kcheckgmail update ): for moment i use http://checkgmail.sourceforge.net work fine, but is GTK2 ):
it says it's logged in, but it never detects my new mails... :(
Looks like the inability to login has returned. Anyone confirm? Thanks, DrSuSE
Odd... I did wait two days before posting, but as luck would have it, it has now begun working again. Thanks.
I just strted using 0.5.5 (from PCLOS), and it will not log me in. It says there's an unknown error retrieving cookies.
same problem (unknown error retrieving cookies) gmail has change protocol ? no update for KCheckGmail ):
Is there a way or will there be a way to check multiple GMail accounts using KCheckGmail? Cool program. Thanks.
It is very good idea. I have 2 google accounds and i dont see posibility to check it both via kcheckgmail. Program is very good. Maby author can add this posibility in next version? Dear Author, could you do it for every happy users of your program?
I still get an 'invalid user name or password' error. For some reason, it works if I start it from the command line. If it's started from the k-menu, or as part of a kde session, it won't log in.
I was able to compile and run inital configuration but when it went to run this happened on backtrace: Using host libthread_db library "/lib/libthread_db.so.1". I'm getting the same error on SuSE 9.3 Pro. Was going to post the backtrace as well, but you beat me to it. :) Please post if you get it figured out. I'll do the same.
EDIT: Actually, I never got the initial window as you say you did. I compiled, installed & ran and imediately went to the crash.
Hi, This backtrace is only really helpful if kcheckgmail is compiled with debugging enabled.
