Libpurple KWallet Plugin
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
Original idea and implementation (in C) can be found at http://kainaw.com/libpurple/. This plugin is implemented in Perl and uses DBus to connect to KWallet; only works with KDE SC 4.
Installation
Just copy the plugin file to the libpurple plugins directory; for the current user that is ~/.purple/plugins/.
More about installation, usage and screenshots here: http://amihaila.wordpress.com/2010/07/15/pidgin-can-save-passwords-in-kwallet/

05 Jul 2011 - bug fixes - the plugin no longer crashes when the user takes too much time entering the password; this also avoids conflicts with other applications that request access to KWallet
12 Jun 2011 - new feature - the wallet to use can be set in the plugin configure options
17 Apr 2011 - bug fix - the KWallet daemon is started if not running. Thanks to Crocket for the patch.

This is what KDE community should be doing. Rather than KDE-fying a lot of apps better integration of KDE with existing apps and libraries will be great. I don't mean that we should stop doing the great work in developing apps. But seriously at some points *standing on shoulders of giant* helps. Any libpurple based KDE chat app?
Someone made a patch that starts the KWallet daemon if not running - bug fix. Thank you Crocket. And thank you all for the feedback and contributions!
