In order to get your kicker look like those in the screenshot download the gimp template file, add a background layer to it and save it as your desktop background. Then create a panel at the bottom (height = 32, transparency = 100%) and one at the top (height = 43, transparency = 100%). Everything should be solved easily, otherwise feel free to ask.
i tried this and i have some problems. the icons in the sytray are bigger than yours. next, when i hover programs in the taskbar i get that fugly mouseover thing. and third, i can see a small border where my panel ends, its like it doesnt have 100% transperancu
I agree, this is actually much better than running some other program like docker etc...
THe real question is: Where can I get the tray icons you are using?
