A note on how to install this/get it running would be nice. Is it an amarok extension? Something I need cron to run?

This plugin doesn't change user status. Please look at kopete now listening module available in kopete, my script just update the picture!
can you explain how does the new feature of default avatar works, because if amarok isn't running the script isn't running too, is it?
You have to run amaroK one time to make it works :) It change global picture when amarok exit or amarok stop playing or when there is no cover.
