The GTK theme made the scrollbar on Firefox really wide. Commenting out the "min-width" property on button (line 115) fixed it up and I don't see that it affected anything else.
It's Metacity (Gnome2) / Marco (Mate) theme, not sure which one but you'll find it by searching Platinum, I think it's this one https://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Mac+Classic+Platinum?content=144719
