right click on the panel bar and click on configure panel, click on the Appearance tab, enable background image, open file dialog, select the background of your choice, and finally click OK.
While it still doesn't fit my tastes, your work is showing improvement..You have a good attitude towards the negative comments people like to dish out, and you seem to be looking to improve your work. Don't let others critisicm discourage you, it isn't really reflective of the spirit of linux and freedom. Keep working and improving, thanks for being part of the kde-look community.
