If anybody wants the XCF, email me :-)
(taken from the README) How to install the bootsplash:
1. Copy the image: cp bootsplash-1024x768.jpg /usr/share/bootsplash/themes/Mandrake/images/ (You may want to back up your existing image first)
2. Delete your old initrd: rm /boot/initrd-2.4.18-6mdk.img (Again, you may want to back this up)
3. Create a new initrd: mkinitrd -f /boot/initrd-2.4.18-6mdk.img 2.4.18-6mdk
4. Make sure lilo is set to boot up in 1024x768 mode: Open /etc/lilo.conf in an editor Replace all the "vga=..." lines with "vga=791" (if you don't see any, add "vga=791" at the top of the file)
The exact same thing as the other person with the error.
The bridge error I think is caused from changing vga=normal to vga=NUMBER at the top of lilo.conf.
No graphics will display until this is changed to vga=normal.
Yeah I got the same thing. It booted correctly just without any picture. It was in a 1024x768 textmode. The normal messages appeared but not in the normal graphics 'window'. I also got the bridge message. I suspect that bridge message is always there except it is normally hidden by the picture. My 2 cents anyway.

How about Mandrake 9.0? What are the commands there?
... happened when I followed the instructions... the old mdk splash screen keeps coming.
I followed the instructions you gave and got some bridge error, no screen appeared at all.
I'm not sure what could be causing this. Can you give me something more specific, like the exact error message, and where it happened.
