It's a 256px^2 png meant to be used as a brushed metal background for a future windec. The screen shot shows an empty html file in konqueror that uses it as a background tile. In the background is a screenshot of a real iTunes window for your comparison. Enjoy!Last changelog:
0.2 - See the second screenshot. The dimensions of the tile are now 1024x64, which gives 65536 px total (exactly the same as 256^2) This allows me to simulate a lighting effect. Check out the included html file. I'm using CSS to make it so the background image is always centered, no matter how you resize the window. Is there a way to do this in KDE windecs, as well?
Unfortunately not.
QT does (afaik) not allow to set functions as brush (the brush is used to paint the widgets backgrounds)
So the brush is static... sorry.
It looks like iTunes, I can do that on my iBook. I have kde & gnome installed and can run kde apps under xwindows at the same time with apple apps. I use a couple of aqua like themes to keep the look & feel similiar. There are some great open source apps that I've used for years (gimp, gcc, nedit, quanta+) along with some great software for apple (iApps, MS Office v.X, Macromedia MX Studio), the ability to run both has helped tremendously. I would love to be able to set a few apps to a brushed metal background.
I was thinking that if you are trying to make some way to set this brushed metal image as a window bg it would be really nice to have some dialog to choose any suitibly sized image to use - for example to give the same stipled/lines effect that you see in some mac and GTK apps, or even (?perhaps!?) a semi transparent png?
Have I understood correctly what is going on here - the image will be the window background?
1. loading pngs is slow compared to use a statically linked pixmap - so currently no.
2. translucent pixmaps would lead to a completely black area, as qt/xfree cannot (due to xfree) handle the alpha channel this way (you wouldn't get a translucent window by this anyway, as every widget would draw it and you'd partially loose translucency - but that's illusionary with x anyway)
but this brush will be an option in one of the next (ok, the next) baghira release
