Hi ! This boot splash looks fantastic, but there is no /etc/bootsplash folder on my computer ^__^ How should I do to use it ? Very good idea anyways !
hi, i have kubuntu 7.10 and usplash installed... i can't find anything that is written in the tutorial especially that i dont have yast! so can someone give me a tutorial how can i make it under kubuntu work?
yes, i want this, too. and maybe it doesn't work for this. i don't think it's a usplash, and yast is for suse. reply to this please.
Nice bootsplash In order to get the message working you could do the following: -mkdir /tmp/message -mkdir /tmp/message2 -cd /tmp/message -cpio -i < /boot/message -cd /tmp/message2 -cpio -i < /<path to matrixdirectory>/grub/message -cp back.jpg ../message -cd /tmp/message -ls . | cpio -o > message -cp message /boot That's it. Make sure to backup the original /boot/message
bootsplash i fixed: in the 1024x768 config file there´s a type failure in the path of the silent file (it says matrix-spash instead of matrix-splash). but grub-> same prob
only KDE splash works for me. GRUB says that /boot/message has incorrect file format and about bootsplash I don't know a thing.. Does any1 have this kind of problem on SUSE 10.2??
Why configure the GRUB to use picture in the SO Menu list. My GRUB still only in text mode :( I use Slackware 11 with GRUB 0.97.
Sorry my bad english... I wanted to say: How configure the GRUB to use picture in the SO Menu list. My GRUB still only in text mode :( I use Slackware 11 with GRUB 0.97.
Really really great job, but there's an error in bootsplash-1024x768.cfg. Line 22 is: jpeg=/etc/bootsplash/themes/matrix-splah/images/bootsplash-1024x768.jpg but it must be: jpeg=/etc/bootsplash/themes/matrix-splash/images/bootsplash-1024x768.jpg Now I've got a completely "matrix like" system :-)
Isn't yast only for suse? so theres no way to install this in another distro?
Hello!! :) Is necessary a special version of grub?!? Wath kind o modicfication is necessary to menu.lst?!? Bye! Max
Ahhh duh duh me lol. Thank you.
adam@ip68-228-229-136:~> su Password: ip68-228-229-136:/home/adam # mv /boot/message /boot/message.old ip68-228-229-136:/home/adam # cp message /boot/message cp: cannot stat `message': No such file or directory ip68-228-229-136:/home/adam # Eh?????? Whats wrong here? Help lol.
grub says that there isn't enough memory in te buffer. I look the code but it's too complicated.
Could you plz tell me how to install this on kubuntu system? I cant find the folder /etc/bootsplash I googled it so many times, but cant find anything. Does this even work on kubuntu, can anyone who got it to work let me know plz! Thanks
Tutto ottimo ed interessante, ma come configuro grub per mostrare l'immagine!? All very interesting but how i configure grub to display the image?!? Ciao Max
This is really great! And it can be made even better. Not that this particular bootsplash can be made better (it allready is magnificient), but it's theme can be extended to a KDE splash, KDM theme and KDE wallpaper (and possibly a entire KDE widget/sound/window/konsole/kicker theme) and thus forming a magnificent collection. The boot phase of todays KDE systems are oftened far to cluttered IMO. First there is a this black-and-white BIOS screen, then there is the GRUB/LILO boot selector, then there is the boot splash, then there is this other KDM screen and then a new splash and then the desktop shows up with a fith design. I'd love if there was a red (or rather green :-]) line following the startup process. Anyway, this rules!
thanks! Actually I'm working on a matrix "full screen" kde splash (based on moodin engine) that will be complementary with this bootsplash (just like the bootsplash and the kde splash screen of the suse 9.3)... Tomorrow I'll leave for holidays but I think that the kde splash screen will be ready for the first week of september!
thats what i try to do with http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=27911 , http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=27871 and http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=27849 !!!!!! it makes the whole thing look realy nice when you a grub splash, followed by the same bootsplash then a kdm theme and a ksplash theme that match too check them out and if you have any ideas for any other themes ill try to put them togeter for you if i have time
good idea. Linux is realy real word! miha
Thanks!
