Probably only works with Gnome shell because I get original adwaita folder icons here. Doesn’t look like your screenshots at all.
I commented before actually trying them out. First they identify themselves as Adwaita, you may want to edit index.theme. Second, here they don’t look like yours at all. They look the same as Adwaita. That’s strange.
Running LMDE with XFCE desktop, by the way.
