Plasma Active Application
KDE plasma applet to show the active application name. Thought to be used in a panel together with plasma's global menu.
Motivation:
Unfortunately [AWC] (https://github.com/kotelnik/plasma-applet-active-window-control) does not seem to be maintained anymore. The experience from the official plasma global menu is currently better, but it is currently missing the active application name.
Features:
- Easy replacements through the configuration interface (see github issue #1 for instructions)
- Maximaze/Restore (double-click) or close (middle-click)
- Full window title tooltip
- Configurable: Bold text, Show window icon, Spacing (Left, Right and in between of Icon and AppName), No window text (activity friendly), No window icon
Preview:

Installing:
plasmapkg2 -i plasma-active-application.plasmoid
Updating:
plasmapkg2 -u plasma-active-application.plasmoid
Uninstalling:
plasmapkg2 -r org.kde.activeApplication
Credit where it is due:
Strongly based on [AWC] (https://github.com/kotelnik/plasma-applet-active-window-control)
Version 0.2
- Using AppName instead of Window Title (requires readjustment of fine-tuned replacements)
- Fully configurable spacing (Left / Icon-AppName / Right)
- Mouse behavior changed (Maximize/Restore: double-click; Close: middlle-click; No Minimization)
- Minor improvement of settings layout (much to be done yet)

9 Is it possible to modify 'Plasma Active Application' in the way that it shows a kind of 'desktop context-menu' right to 'plasma Desktop' if no application is active? Global app manu of vala panel does that somehow
9 +It works perfect! even better than Active Window Control (https://store.kde.org/p/998910) that crashes in my case the entire Plasma Desktop
Thanks! Please note that this applet is unmaintained in favor of https://store.kde.org/p/1274218/ You should probably used this instead as it is better integrated with Latte and other Plasma applets (especially Buttons and the unofficial Appmenu).

Everything is cool, but lacking the ability to change the font, and everything is very good
Yes, that's right, but Active Application is meant to be as coherent as possible with plasma global menu, which does not allow changing the font either, but uses the system one. I think this is a nice default, as you can modify system's font to your likes. I wonder, why would you want to change just the font of this applet if you cannot change the one of the global menu?
At first glance it seemed to me that the font supposedly differs from the global menu, it does not look as one with it, but I noticed such a feature that the name of the active application is slightly lower in height than the text of the functions of the global menu, the global menu has some dashes in words and because of this, the active menu looks slightly lower. I don’t know if I could explain well, I don’t know English well. So I made a screen https://dropmefiles.com/gNYFo
Can you please open an issue at github (address on top) and add the screenshot there? I'll take a look and see if there is anything I can do...
