*Krecipes Handbook integration
*Nutrient status indicator; while editing a recipe, lets you know whether or not nutrient information is complete for a recipe.
*Measurement Converter tool
*Ingredient substitutes (i.e. butter or margarine)
*Ingredient weights, used for accurate Volume->Mass unit conversions based on the ingredient
*Improved unit conversions; there's a separate table for mass and volume conversions and this setup avoids non-sensical conversions (i.e. 1 loaf = ? cups)
*Optimized for quick loading and faster startup times
*Completely re-done recipe view, based on HTML templates. Generated HTML is much cleaner and compatible, and allows for more flexible printing options.
*"Web Book" exporter - exports a collection of recipes into a series of web pages, organized by category.
*Ingredients and properties can be displayed in a variable number of columns in the Page Setup.

Changes from 0.8.1 to 0.9:
-Rating support: multiple people can rate a single recipe, each rating can rate a recipe on multiple criteria (taste, ease of preparation, etc.)
-New yield property for recipes: rather than storing the number of servings, it now stores a yield amount
and type. The amount may also be a range.
-Backup/restore of entire database. This is much faster than exporting/importing an database in the
Krecipes Format and also includes nutrient info and unit ratios.
-Ingredient amounts can be ranges
-Recipe lists now allow selecting multiple recipes. For example, this is handy for exporting, viewing, or
printing multiple recipes at once
-Dialog to paste ingredients into, which Krecipes then automatically parses and adds to a recipes.
-Allows multiple preparation methods
-PostgreSQL backend now stable
-Now keeps tracks of when recipes are created, modified, and last accessed.
-'Copy to Clipboard' feature, which allows easily copying a recipe(s) directly to the clipboard in a format that can be configured. There
is a new export format, Plain Text, that is used by default.
-Rezkonv file format export

You know what I'd like to see? I'd love for you guys to work with the team from phprecipebook.sourceforge.net and get your db schemas to be the same. That way, you can share the recipes between the two applications. I can use Krecipes when I'm at home, but have phprecipebook available off my home webserver so I can share with friends. I can't imagine that your schemas would differ too much.
I think it would be a great idea to share recipes between all the people using krecipes at the same time. What do you think? _ose
Or just make a filter to export from Kreceipes to php....
A great feature would be to have a recipe website that people could post and share their favorite recipes - perhaps even a section here at kde-apps.org. For example, the recent open source "free beer" recipe could be posted and shared with all krecipes users. I must admit I'm new to the application - perhaps something like this exists already?

Great work! I would like to say thx for this app. Very usefull, and finally i dont need to use gtk apps to manage my recipes :)
My wife and I have already come to depend on Krecipes. I would really like to see a "Get Hot New Stuff" function added it to it. BTW as Steven pointed out, you REALLY shoud post a release announcement to the kde-announce mailing list. Evidently lots of web and print magazines only track application releases that have been announced on that mailing list. Thanks for all the great work. Bobby
Hello, how can I explicitly enable sqlite? I've installed sqlite already, but configure obviosly can't find.
You probably haven't you installed the 'devel' package for SQLite. If you know you have, then run configure like: ./configure --with-extra-includes=/where/you/installed/sqlite/include/ --with-extra-libs=/where/you/installed/sqlite/lib -Jason K
Hi there, a great app indeed. I liked the fact I could start entering data right away. No difficult setup, no accounts, no categories needed - although still those available. Thanks!
Just to let people know, we are aware that there is a problem with the recipe view when using KDE 3.4 RC1 (and 3.4 beta2). I'm looking into the problem now, and I can only hope it'll work fine on KDE 3.4 final! -Jason K
Whenever I try viewing a recipe, it takes a very long time to show it. To make it worse, the view seems all stretched out. Is is supposed to do so or am I missing something.
About being slow, that is probably because you are using SQLite and nutrient data is loaded in the database. I've looked at this at can't find a way to speed it up. In the next release, when you turn off nutrient display in the Page Setup, it should load quickly. About the recipe view, I guess I'd need a picture of what is happening as I don't seem to have any problems with that. -Jason K

it's not just the loading. I noticed several "Warning: I could not calculate the full property list, due to impossible unit conversion". Note that the final recipe seems ok eventually, it's just the UI that remains stuck for a while. You might want to fix that loading stage.
are the recipes stored in xml (like in bookcase / tellico)? really nice, i'm downloading it right now. this will make my recipe-collection (which now exists as a collection of loose papers) really comfortable... :-)
oh, it's too early and i don't seem to be able to read... ;-) it uses sql, ok.
