Description: Plasma 5 applet that enables/disables transparency for plasma panels. Plasma 5.17.3 is required to work correctly and enable/disable panel shadows when needed.
How To Use: 1. Unlock your widgets and add transparency button in a plasma panel 2. Activate it and your plasma panel will become completely transparent without altering your plasma theme files. 3. Based on Plasma Desktop version: - For Plasma >= 5.18, exit Configure Layout desktop mode in order to hide the transparency button completely - For Plasma < 5.18, lock your widgets in the end in order to hide the transparency button completely.
Reguirements: - Plasma Desktop >= 5.18 - you need v0.2.x - Plasma Desktop < 5.18 - you need v0.1.xLast changelog:
It would seem this is no longer maintained. A shame, honestly. A transparency percentage config would have been great, so I have specific transparency for each panel
In case the button is not hidden unless widgets are locked (as said previously - where I meant `<5.18 policy of hiding widgets`, not `5.12`, and given 5.18 has no option to lock widgets ): install the 5.12 version of Win7ShowDesktop (https://store.kde.org/p/1100895/) in order to use its integrated option to lock widgets.(more here: https://github.com/psifidotos/paneltransparencybutton/issues/6#issuecomment-970733037).
In some cases the <5.12 policy of hiding widgets needs to be applied even in >5.18. I have used this trick: https://www.reddit.com/r/kde/comments/ez4s32/comment/hkwqxoi/?utm_source=share
10Hello!
I'm using your widget, on KDE Plasma, and I must tell you it's amazing! This is what I have been looking for for many months and finally found it!
However, I have a request - could you make it possible function to automatically turn on/off transparency when maximizing windows to full screen?
I mean, when the window is opened, the panel is not transparent, and when minimized and only the desktop remains, the panel is transparent. That is, the possibility of dynamic transparency.
I will wait for your reply, thank you.
You may be aware of the fact that lock/unlock widgets is on its way out of Plasma.
It's already disabled in 5.18 beta.
So another way to show/hide the button will be needed (for some it already is - Neon Testing and Kubuntu 20.04-dev for example).
I didn't know but also I don't know if new global editing mode is accessible to applets, the applet main purpose was to help Latte send screen geometries to Plasma, in Plasma 5.18 this is provided by a new Plasma mechanism. So there is big chance that the applet will become obsolete if there is no easy way for applets to access new global editing mode.
Thank you. I have forwarded your comment on the Kubuntu forum.
Maybe they know ;·)

I need this to allow the panel to go opaque when there is a maximized window. When that happens, it's one less need for Latte
7 Can you allow to control the transparency % in the plasmoid settings ?
After a system update, Panel Transparency Button makes the panel not transparent, but black. Does anyone else have the same problem? I use Manjaro
10 A must for my Linux installs. Thank you so much for making this!

@Psifidotos only icons can be seen on a white background. You can add the option to change the opacity level ?
use Latte this is not possible with Plasma panels
Ok thanks
feature update: a option to set the level of opacity to 50%
I don't found this option.
9 9 excellent
Absolutely great work! I can finally have a transparent default panel. It would be amazing if we could set the level of transparency ourselves.
