Description:
A X11 cursor theme with sharp edges based on a hexagon. It works with subtle greys to hint at not being flat. Since version 3 I also made a black variant, thank you for your interest!
To install unpack the zip package and copy the theme folder to /usr/share/icons (system-wide) or ~/.icons (for one user only). Then choose the theme in your system's settings manager.

Version 3: Now with black variant
I heavily reworked the base svg files and changed the colors to get a black version of my cursor theme. Hope you like it!

9 9 excellent - Nice neutral colours. Only suggestions I have would be to make the caret (text focus line) a little taller, and perhaps the move cross-hair a little thinner. But hey, that's just me. Cheers!

Any chance you could add additional size(s), 36 or 40 perhaps (hidpi scaling makes pointers too small or too big with current sizes)?
Thanks for your feedback, I wasn’t aware that’s an issue! Are more sizes something other cursor themes offer? At the moment I’m not able to do this, but I’ll put it on my list. Maybe I rework my cursor toolbox for being more flexible and automatically calculate the required hotspots for each cursor type … Until then please feel free to fork https://github.com/charakterziffer/cursor-toolbox to render every sizes you need.
Some other cursors do offer additional sizes. Not my cup of tea but I'll see can I do something. If successful I'll create a pull request. Thanks once again, great cursor theme.

:-) I so often wonder, why people prefer black cursors – I guess it’s just a matter of taste. I’ve added it on my ToDo list, but it will take some time – please be patient.

8 I'd love a black version and in the white version (at the time of writing this) the text cursor doesn't have any white lines on the top and bottom when it blends in with a black background. It looks like | but white.
Good point, bl1nk! The same problem (or design feature ☺) like with the text cursor exists with all arrows, too. Do you think it’s also annoying there? Maybe I could give the black lines a kind of light edge … At the moment I’ve little time, but the black version at the back of my mind.
It is annoying on the other arrows too. I think an outline would be best because it makes it more distinct across different colors. Thanks for responding.
Hej bl1nk, thanks for your detailed feedback! In version 2 of cz-Hickson I now added some white lines. I avoided an enclosing outline to preserve the plainness of the design. Maybe my other theme cz-Viator could be interesting for you, it hast more closed shapes (and already a black variant): https://www.pling.com/p/1229367/ – All the best!
