This is my Servicemenu. It use wipe to destroy files and directories.
Wipe:
Secure file deletion Recovery of supposedly erased data from magnetic media is easier than what many people would like to believe. A technique called Magnetic Force Microscopy (MFM) allows any moderately funded opponent to recover the last two or three layers of data written to disk. Wipe repeatedly writes special patterns to the files to be destroyed, using the fsync() call and/or the O_SYNC bit to force disk access.
INSTALL:
Just copy the file to ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus
The following languages are supported: en,fr,br,it,de,es
It use the command: wipe -r -f
I hope it is useful.
Wipe has only full effect on ext2!

the shredder is still there and part of kgpg. You can find it under Options->Misc. There is a button called "Install shredder"
It is off by default, because it is not 100% secure on all filesystems, as stated above.
don't forget, that in corporations (and hopeful in your private envirenment) there are usually lot's of backups around. So it will take some time till a wiped out file is not "recoverable" any more. IMHO it's not a technical problem but an organizational one.

But the problem is, that with modern journaled file systems like ReiserFS, EXT3, JFS and others, tools like wipe or shred offer only limited security.
Wipe or shred can do a good job on EXT2 file systems, but if one uses a journaled file system the best thing is to use an encrypted file system.
I really don´t want to offend, just wanted to say, if one really needs secure deletion encrypted file systems are the only road to go.

There's a little error in the Italian Action Name: Name[it]=Distrugg should be: Name[it]=Distruggi
