Attach to thunderbird
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
Description:
Tired of searching a SIMPLE Servicemenu to just attach any file (or file group) to a mail in Thunderbird, I decided to write my own service.
If you use Mandriva or OpenSuSE, put it under:
~/.kde4/share/kde4/services
On Fedora and Kubuntu Oneiric under:
~/.kde/share/kde4/services
If other, I think the correct path is something like:
~/.kde4/share/apps/dolphin/services
If you want the Thunderbird icon, you should edit the line "Icon" like this "Icon=/usr/lib/thunderbird/chrome/icons/default/default16.png". If you use 64bits version, you should look in /usr/lib64/thunderbird_version/chrome/icons/default/default16.png.
It is fully proven to work in a 64bits system, KDE 4.5, TB 3.0.7. Since the last modifications, i don't know if it's still working on 32bits systems, please report your experiences. PLEASE ALWAYS report thunderbird version, system architecture and distro.
Should work!
PS: Don't forget to try my other servicemenu for compressing before sending Last changelog:

Get this service delisted from the search performed by Dophin's "Download new services" feature. It is NOT directly installable in this manner, so it should NOT be listed there.
Works great and I like that. Here are two comments: - For the icon I use the path (64bit system): /usr/lib/thunderbird/chrome/icons/default/default16.png The lib64 folder don't exists. - I think "Als Anhang mit Thunderbird verschicken" is the better German translation. Ciao Roman Kubuntu 12.10 (64bit), Firefox 17.0
Works just great on Ubuntu 12.04 KDE (32-bit), with Thunderbird 11.0.
Oops - thats with KDE 4.8.1 I should add! :-)
Works great on Mandriva 2010.2 x64, kde 4.4.5 and Thumderbird 3.1.16.
Working on Kubuntu 11.10, KDE 4.7.3, Thunderbird 7.0.1. Only problem I have is, whenever I open the actions menu I get thw "Attach to thunderbird" option twice. https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/9PD1TdFYlnP3M_5iW7B9mA?feat=directlink Any solution??? Por lo demás, excelente opción para quienes nos gusta KDE y thunderbird. Saludos!
Whooops!!! Never mind, I was trying to send the very same file, that's why I got the same menu... XD Mis disculpas.
Great tool, polish translation for him: Name[pl]=Wyślij jako załącznik Thunderbirda
I think it's: dziekuje? Thank you anyway... added!
Using Arch+KDE 4.7.3 works fine. I edit the file and change the latest line to: Icon=/usr/lib/thunderbird/chrome/icons/default/default16.png Because my thunderbird is 32bit not 64. The file with my little modification: http://paste.desdelinux.net/paste/64 I mentioned this contribution in my blog, I hope you do not mind: http://blog.desdelinux.net/clic-derechoenviar-adjunto-con-thunderbird-en-kde/ Thanks PS: Sorry for my english, is not my primary language ^-^U
Saludos!

Thanks... also added!
Hi, Thanks for this work. In Mandriva 2011, Dolphin, the line that works for multiple files is: Exec=thunderbird -compose "attachment='$(echo %F | sed 's/\\ \\//,\\/\\//g')'" If you wish to have Brazilian Portuguese, add: Name[pt_BR]=Enviar arquivo(s) como anexo(s) Best wishes.
Thanks... added!
Hi, just what I was looking for my kubuntu 10.10 ... but how do I install it? Thanks and sorry but I am a beginner.
Hi, if you are completely new to linux, you will have to learn some basics before. Then, on shell run "kde4-config --path services". It will say you where to put the .desktop files. Copy the file in this directory and restart Dolphin. It will vary form distribution to distribution, but it should be something like: ~/.kde4/share/kde4/services/ Tell me if it worked. Good luck!
Hi, thanks I'm noto completly new but new :O) "kde4-config --path services". ok /home/alex/.kde/share/kde4/services/:/usr/share/kde4/services/ I copied it in /home/alex/.kde/share/kde4/services/ but it doesn't work. someone told me that I've to wait for ubuntu the kde 4.6
Sorry, I'm a new, work very well thanks so much
Nice servicemenu :) I don't use Thunderbird, but my dad does :) The Dutch translation is: "Voeg toe als bijlage aan Thunderbird" [nl] is the suffix, or, well like [br] and [fr], [nl] is the Dutch one.
Thank you... added!
You're welcome :)
Please, could you also tell me what version of TB, linux and architecture you are using?
Kubuntu 10.04, Thunderbird 3.1, I'm using 64-bit and my dad 32-bit ;)
