Nithyananda Hindi Unicode Font (GPL)
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work):
This font is designed and meant for Linux.
* to make fonts look awsome in Linux, use "freetype infinality"
http://www.infinality.net
See 3rd screenshot.
The font is not hinted by hand, but it looks good in Gnome and KDE ; hence, please use "anti-aliasing" in font settings. Gnome-shell already has good default hinting.
* use slight hinting and RGB hinting with infinality for best results.
Known issues:
1. hi.wikipedia.org in headings use "smaller" height hence the characters get cut; it happens with Raghindi and other hindi fonts also. It seems to be a bug at wikipedia.
Bug reported:
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29405
2. LibreOffice and Openoffice has bug of िं (small i with bindu) like in words vimalam (विमलं) bindu is misplaced. As most fonts do not have opentype entry for small_i+bindu; even my other font Gurumaa did not have िं (i+m=im code) in it. Version 2.00 is a workaround for this bug; And 1.05 is also included in the zip file.
