If you'd like to have the glow effect with your favorite color around your window then use this code:
sudo apt install plasma-theme-oxygen
x] This is to bring back the default Oxygen Theme from KDE4
1] Go to your System Settings
2] Click on Application Style
3] Scroll down to Window Decorations
4] Find "Oxygen"
5] In the Oxygen Window Decoration, click on the wrench tool icon
6] Go to "Shadows" and then you can even use two colors. Each for Active/Inactive windows.
This is an awesome theme. The only problem is, the title bars look squashed if I maximize the program, and the minimize, restore, close, etc buttons look too small regardless. Why is this?

i need some help :) i'm a new linux convert and have been navigating my way around this beautiful (not visually beautiful as of yet for me) OS.
i just installed ubuntu and then installed KDE. so i do have 4.4.2. i was just hoping if you could forward me to some documentation on how to fully install your theme. i have managed to install the theme via system settings area but i dont get a bunch of the really cool features - i have no idea how to install your widgets and above everything else, my K-menu (start menu) area doesnt look like yours at all.
all help would be very appreciated!

Hello! I'm sorry about the delayed reply. Welcome to the world of GNU/Linux, we are glad to have you =)
To install the plasma theme (widgets and taskbar), you now have to go to "System Settings>Style>Workspace" and click "get new themes". You can type Ghost into the search box from there.
Most of the widgets in the screenshot are available from the "Add widgets" dialog (click the cashew looking thing in the upper right corner of your desktop). My kmenu is actually not pictured, those are just various widgets arranged the way I like =). The one on the far left is actually a second panel with more widgets stuffed inside of it.
I'm not really sure where to find any good documentation, so all I can recommend is searching google for "KDE4 Plasma theme install" or something similar. Good luck!
Good god no! It's just the best I could do to make a widget shape that interlocks with itself. I would never intentionally make anything look like the State of Misery, especially as part of a GiTS inspired theme! =D
when I enable this theme and my panel is larger than a specific size, there are multiple rows in system tray. How did you realize this feature? How can I change the value of rows?

I'm not sure what could be causing this behavior. I tried following your description but was unable to reproduce the problem. The best suggestion I have is to restart kde after making the changes and hope it goes back to the way it should be =) Good luck, and please let me know if you find a solution!

What I don't like in the new version:
-Its way too green. So green it hurts my eyes.
The old transparent/gray/green-glow approach was much more my case.
-No glow anymore. Although everything is now in the former glow color, nothing glows. That's a shame, especially concerning your really cool looking analogue clock.
-With the new borders the plasmoids do not fit together well enough. You have to try forever to arrange them all perfectly enough that it looks good.
-As already mentioned: The taskbar needs a border (in my opinion).
Another Idea would be to take that glowy bar and move it to middle of the control bar instead of the edge of the screen.
-The "Task Button" is now filled with green. I don't know how well it looks with the default task plasmoid, but with smooth-tasks it looks strange.
What I like in the new version:
-The Folder view selection Icons really look cool.
-The new color scheme, although the colors also are painful to look at, the fit very well to the desktop.
-The same goes for the window decoration. It now uses much less space and fits together very well with the color scheme.
I'll stay with the old theme for a while and wait what you come up with next.
Maybe I'll read myself into plasma themeing and adjust your 1.2.1 version to the needs of newer kde versions if necessary.
Thanks for your feedback! I'm sorry you prefer 1.2.1 as it is never my intention to alienate users of previous versions of my themes. However I feel that 2.0 is vastly superior, and much closer to my original vision. Sometimes you gotta break a few eggs to make an omelet.
Concerning panel/tasks: Have you tried replacing panel-background & tasks with the alternate old-style versions I've included? (panel-background-alt.svg & tasks-alt.svg) A simpler option of getting an old style panel is to make the panel not maximised. Of course you can also try replacing with 1.2.1 version of either, but I have not tested this so I'm not sure how well it will work.
To make tasks look better with Smooth Tasks, uncheck the box "as only hover effect" under "Lights". Personally I find disabling "Lights" altogether works best for me.
I encourage users to tweak my themes to their needs, as I prefer to maintain only one version. And I don't update too often either (it's been nearly a year since the last update). It is rather easy to "remix" plasma themes as it usually just requires having the right files in the right folder. Just replace or rename the files in question. See http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Plasma/Theme & http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Plasma/Theme#Current_Theme_Elements for the only Plasma Theme documentation I am aware of. It's not the clearest, but it's all that is currently out there. Ghost usually resides in your home directory at ~/.kde/share/apps/desktoptheme/Ghost/
If your goal is to bring 1.2.1 up to speed with KDE 4.4, I would start by replacing the lancelot/theme.config with the newer version and copy over widgets/lineedit.svg and any other missing elements you wish to use.

I am using your theme for some weeks now (on KDE SC 4.3 and 4.4) and its simply amazing.
I am a GitS Fan myself and using a fitting wallpaper together with your theme.
A tip for all vertical taskbar users is to replace the KDE taskbar with "smooth-tasks" as you can rotate the taskborders, which makes this mod look as good with vertical taskbars.
I am using it together with the normal oxygen design, as I don't like the aurora themes because they waste to much space and only look good with absolute black windows.
Absolute black windows (as suggested by the artist of this theme) hurt my eyes because of the harsh contrasts.
Now I am using a modified version of the "obsidian coast" colour scheme, moddet to fit the colour of "ghost".
Thank you so much jmtodaro for this amazing piece of work. The first dark theme I really love.

Could you make a kdm and/or a ksplash theme?
The kdm them kdmthemegenerator produces arent perfect.
The theme produced by ksplashthemegenerator is OK thought.

Thanks for the tip about vertical taskbars. I never realized it was a issue but now that you mention it I can imagine how it must look. That's just the way it is, but I'm glad to hear there is a solution! I'm addressing the huge window decorations, and I have also created a color scheme. It is still dark, however it's not flat black.
Anyhow, thanks for your comment and yes I will look into the kdm theme. =) I haven't done one yet so I'm not sure exactly how much work it will require. Hopefully not too much heh.
I like those screenshots.
Especially I like how the little plasmoids are shaped so their borders connect to each other.
The colour-scheme is awesome finally fits with the auroae theme.
The problem with the old aurorae theme was that even the glow around the windows added to the width of the decoration.
The only thing I don't like is how the new controllbar looks. In my opinion it would look much nicer with a border like the old one had because everything else in your theme is "edgy".
Anyway its glad to hear that you are still working on this theme.
I am looking forward to hearing about 2.0 soon. ;-)

Okay I know this is 14 years old, but could you make a version without the transparency and gradient on the taskbar? Like just a black background?

Kudos! Another dark theme that looks great. Now I'm not sure which I like better - Tragedy or Ghost.
