Description:
Directory Monitor is a Plasmoid that counts the number of files in the specified directories and displays a notification anytime the number increases.

I made it to count the number of new messages in my maildirs (hence the alternative title but it is pretty generic could be used for other purposes.

The plasmoid uses Qt's inotify capabilities, so the notifications are instant.

Any suggestions appreciated
