Honestly, I don't know the full process, but for minor modifications to one that comes with the source like this one... Make sure you have xcursorgen, modify the original png files where they are in the folder, run the make.sh file, change the name of the main folder to whatever you want it named, then copy/paste the folder to /usr/share/icons (which requires root privilage) or to your own icons folder.

i like the purple look, and this is one of my favorite mouse themes as well. just out of curiosity, how to you make/edit mouse themes?
