Is there a version of this but scaled 2x as big? This cursor is very hard to see on high resolution screens.

Great theme, it is my default theme, but I have a small problem. Cursor is not visible in a black terminal. Is there a solution for that? Thank you

roueweb

You need to modify xterm0.png with gimp or photoshop (in white for example). Then run terminal in sources file and : xcursorgen xterm.conf xterm. A new file is generated, copy/paste in cursor file.

Thanks for the info roueweb. As I was having the same invisibility issue I ended up modifying the theme to include outlines around all the entirely black cursors. You can find it at http://xfce-look.org/content/show.php?content=176113

Seems xfce-look had a site overhaul only a couple of hours after I posted that. The new link is https://www.xfce-look.org/p/1102959/

I know it's been over 4 years since you posted this, but thanks for posting it. I recently switched to the Xfce version of PCLinuxOS, and its default mouse cursor set is black, and I was really wanting a white set. Thanx for posting this! :-)

Clean and Simple. This is the BEST cursors set. Even better, there is no shadow (Who needs shadow). Thank you so much the the cursors set!!

KURTGOOD

Why did you do it without a shadow?

rgiuly

I have extracted the archive to .icons When I try to install it through the KDE Control Center, I click on the index.theme file and get the message: "The file index.theme does not appear to be a valid cursor theme archive." KDE 3.5.5 Any ideas what I could do here?

anthracite

Ok, I carefully read directions and now I don't get the error anymore. However, it does not come up in the list of themes available. I have logged out of KDE and restarted the X server. I have confirmed that there is a Classic-White folder in my .icons folder, which contains an index.theme file. There is also a cursors folder which is full of files.

Ok, I feel silly now. It's there, the only catch is that it's named "default", just like other themes I have installed. If you know how, maybe you could make it so that it's called "Classic White" or something in the Mouse Cursors menu?

finally i found that! thank you! the shadow of the mouse cursor was one thing i always disliked... i don't care about MS reminiscences - i just like the simpicity and precision of this design! very helpful in everyday webwork!

blackdog

Yep, finally, u just took your words from my mouth.

This is exactly what I want, thanks very much! It is the default mouse theme of Windows XP...whatever! I have to say that this is a very classic mouse theme. Yet the default mouse theme of ubuntu sometimes gives me the feeling of lacking of strength.

is it freeware? otherwise i agree that it is clear and simple, but i don't understand, why should it be as pixelate as the original. i now that MS designers never heard about antialiashing, but this improvement may make this theme better.

davidcs

I make it freeware because it's identical to the microsoft's cursor theme and due that I didn't find the license of this I suppose that it can be freeware and I don't put it a foss licence because due to legal matters I believe that this wouldn't appropriate. But my main objective has been bringing the Windows cursor to the Linux world and this way help to break the barrier that exists among these two worlds. I only hope that this cursor theme lasts the longest time for all those who want prove it in their favorite Linux desktop. :)

I personally like the caret cursor. It is so very accurate and professional. I've been looking for a sleek caret cursor and this is so far the best I had found. Thank you. Voted up.

davidcs

I uploaded this theme because I like its clarity and simplicity, and because I want to share it with all the linux users, specially with those who are familiarized with the windows environment.

sabaal

Doesn't matter what it's based on; you did good work, and deserve a good rating.

lordmaxxon

People are probably voting this down because it's from Windows, and as everybody knows, Windows is "teh evil". I'm no Microsoft fan, but I do like confusing people, especially by making my Linux box look and act like other OSes. This will really help with that.

mathieu147

I personally voted down because I don't like these cursors at all. They are ugly when compared to what we have by default in GNOME.
