Description: J. Aroche's Vienna3 for CursorXP, converted to an X11 cursor. Javier has agreed on providing me with a ubuntu logo animation for the 'AppStarting' animation, previously had a Windows logo. Some animations have been changed to ones that don't cause glitches on the desktop when compiz-fusion is enabled, and the "hand" image has been replaced with a much more interesting animation from J.Aroche.
Link to Original for CursorXP: http://www.wincustomize.com/skins.aspx?skinid=2412&libid=25 This is a .CursorXP file, rename to zip and extract it for the source.
I don't have anywhere to upload the script for it including the renamed .pngs, but I haven't made any major changes, only changed the cursor scripts whereever I changed the animation(.png) to the one previously held, if you really need it (or really believe i'm violating the GPL) I can post the differences between the original and mine. After downloading the .CursorXP the original Author's license is valid.
Update: Giving credit to Moony and his outstanding perl script: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/CursorXP%2BFX+to+X11+Mouse+Theme+Converter?content=72405 without which i'd have to get myself to learn how to properly create X11 Mouse Themes
Is it just me or are (at least on KDE 4.2) the cursors for resizing rotated for 90° — or more probably, that the wrong file is being used.
E.g. when resizing the left-lower corner the arrows point like this: \ (instead of /)
+Extract the package in /usr/share/icons.
+In a terminal, type gconf-editor
+Go to key /desktop/gnome/peripherals/mouse/cursor_theme.
+Change it to 'Vienna3'
+Yeah, man!!!!! A amazing cursor working fine.
this is absolutely the best cursor theme i've ever used!!!
its got great animation for loading web pages and even for other actions the animation is great. i just kept looking at it and liking it more and more lol.
oh it doesn't have a hand animation any more, i saw some people saying the hand was not looking good but its got a way better animation now. thanks so much for this, i'm very new to ubuntu but this is one of the themes that really make me enjoy my ubuntu experience :)
I was downloading a bunch of pointers looking for one that I liked. I found the Vienna 3, and that is the one I would like to use. It installed perfectly fine, but I do have a problem when it is loading pages. It reverts to one of the other themes that I had downloaded before. Any suggestions? Thanks.
After I relogin, there is only currently used one of new-added cursor themes listed (others are gone). I am using Fedora 9 now, anyone has the similar problem? Suggestion please.
i have the same or similar problem with ubuntu, i finally got this mouse cursor working by installing through the appearance menu and clicking apply new theme, i installed a few different cursors that i was having trouble getting to install with this method, but when i reboot, only the one i have currently selected still exist, all of the rest disappear, no idea why, this happens with any cursor i try that was converted from xp
Oh, I checked again, if I install it through Appearance diglog, it works. However, if I directly uncompress it into my .icons folder, it fails (the same content in such folder though). May a bug related to both distributions?

Oh, sorry! Easiest way "for" Debian users.
LOL, We want Cursor Animation for Debian, not to install this...
Best mouse cursor theme I have ever seen. How about a default animation for us non-ubuntu users? :-)
+1 I live this theme but i would like a debian animation.

One of the best mouse themes that I've seen. A release in red would be genius =). Thanks.
I love and use it but i'm not using Ubuntu... How can i change it for the Arch logo or at least for the sand-clock animation?
how do I put the replacement ubuntu animation in the theme?Thanx a lot for the cursors, anyway

Nevermind... I was able to figure it out. I removed all the other pointers I had installed.
It seems there is a little incorrect map in cursors folder. The working one is like: 00008160000006810000408080010102 -> double_arrow 028006030e0e7ebffc7f7070c0600140 -> right_side 03b6e0fcb3499374a867c041f52298f0 -> crossed_circle 0876e1c15ff2fc01f906f1c363074c0f -> link 08e8e1c95fe2fc01f976f1e063a24ccd -> left_ptr_watch 08ffe1cb5fe6fc01f906f1c063814ccf -> copy 1081e37283d90000800003c07f3ef6bf -> copy 14fef782d02440884392942c11205230 -> sb_h_double_arrow 208530c400c041818281048008011002 -> HandSqueezed 2870a09082c103050810ffdffffe0204 -> sb_v_double_arrow 3085a0e285430894940527032f8b26df -> link 3ecb610c1bf2410f44200f48c40d3599 -> left_ptr_watch 4498f0e0c1937ffe01fd06f973665830 -> move 5aca4d189052212118709018842178c0 -> HandGrab 5c6cd98b3f3ebcb1f9c7f1c204630408 -> question_arrow 6407b0e94181790501fd1e167b474872 -> copy 640fb0e74195791501fd1ed57b41487f -> link 9081237383d90e509aa00f00170e968f -> move 9d800788f1b08800ae810202380a0822 -> HandGrab c7088f0f3e6c8088236ef8e1e3e70000 -> bd_double_arrow d9ce0ab605698f320427677b458ad60b -> question_arrow e29285e634086352946a0e7090d73106 -> hand2 f41c0e382c94c0958e07017e42b00462 -> zoomIn f41c0e382c97c0938e07017e42800402 -> zoomOut fcf1c3c7cd4491d801f1e1c78f100000 -> fd_double_arrow However there's: 00008160000006810000408080010102 -> 2870a09082c103050810ffdffffe0204 028006030e0e7ebffc7f7070c0600140 -> 14fef782d02440884392942c11205230 ...

Hi, everyone. Here is a solution which I wrote in my blog. http://d.hatena.ne.jp/tksmashiw/20080803
Oh, I checked again, if I install it through Appearance diglog, it works. However, if I directly uncompress it into my .icons folder, it fails (the same content in such folder though). May a bug related to both distributions?
i installed the usual way and manually and neither way will get the theme to show up in my list of mouse pointers on ubuntu hardy
Didn't dig out the reason, but it's really sad to unable to use this beautiful theme.
In fact, it doesn't work under opensuse 11.0 neither, and none of cursor theme converted by sd2xc-2.3.pl command currently works.
This theme is simply amazing... I'm wondering though, if it's possible to get a version without ubuntu logo for my Arch???
Impossible to install in Ubuntu, please fix this, thanks in advance!
